our story
Christ the King Church began with a bunch of Dartmouth students who became Christians back in the 70’s during the “Jesus Movement.” A small group of young people moved to Durham in 1982 to start a church that would reach UNH students. Over the years we’ve grown, participated in planting other churches, and changed locations. But one thing has remained the same: a love of God, a love for people and a passion to see our communities in the Seacoast transformed by the power of God’s grace and love.
In 2009, we began a new phase by selling our building in Rochester and moving to Dover. We’re nomadic again. Our goal is simple -- to serve the city of Dover. We’re not about buildings or programs, but people. We want to see lives transformed by connecting people to Jesus. Only Jesus can change our hearts and change our communities. The way we want to see that happen is by reaching out by loving people and being culturally relevant and sharing about Jesus, restoring lives by continually pointing to Jesus and helping people find their identity in Him, and resourcing believers by equipping and releasing people in their gifts so that the church can go and serve and bring hope to our communities and the nation.
And we’re seeing it happen, person by person. We can’t wait to see what God will do in the years to come.
